The pulse is racing, the pace of events is high, Bach’s well-known harmonies, their popular melodic twists and turns. Andreas N. Tarkmann has set 14 of the total of 31 independent movements from Bach’s set, which is considered the epitome of harmony, largely true to the original for string orchestra. The sequence of the transcribed variations follows their position in Bach’s cycle. In between there are eleven compositions written for this project by violinist Niklas Liepe by Tarkmann, Moritz Eggert, Sidney Corbett, Wolf Kerschek, Rolf Rudin and Daniel Sundy, which bring the baroque masterpiece into the present.
