Viersen. Freiheitsstraße is closed from Süchtelner Straße in the direction of Mönchengladbach. It is not yet clear how long the ban will last. The reason is a lowering of the carriageway in the construction site area at the height of Bendstrasse.
The lane in the direction of Mönchengladbach had to be closed around 2 p.m. on Thursday, May 21, 2020 due to the work to secure and remove the lowering. The foot and bike path crossing of Freiheitsstraße in the course of Bendstraße is also affected.
Motorists coming from Dülken can only turn left into Süchtelner Straße from Freiheitsstraße. Turning off Süchtelner Straße, Rahserstraße and Bendstraße towards Mönchengladbach is prohibited. If you want to drive from the direction of Dülken to the city center, to the south of Viersen or further towards Mönchengladbach, you should use the Willy-Brandt-Ring in the direction of Josefsring and turn onto Freiheitsstrasse at the Brusselser Allee junction. Only residents can enter the Rahserstraße into Herzogstraße.
The Bendstraße foot and bike path is closed between Rektoratstraße and Freiheitsstraße. The Freedom Street cannot be crossed here. If you are on foot or by bike, you can dodge the Rahserstraße and use the transition there. The garages in the restricted area of Bendstraße can unfortunately not be reached by car temporarily.
