Freiburg: Volunteers in youth work in Baden-Württemberg – top value for Freiburg

Every year on December 5th, International Volunteer Day, volunteering in society is honored around the world. Many volunteers are particularly committed to youth work.

The State Statistical Office reports that last year 106,650 people worked on over 14,000 offers for young people in Baden-Württemberg. SPD member of the state parliament Gabi Rolland is happy about it and says: “With their commitment, many people, younger and older, contribute to the fact that young people can be offered various programs and that they receive important support. This is essential in order to strengthen social bonds and cohesion in our society. “

In 2019, an average of 10 people per 1,000 inhabitants volunteered in youth work in Baden-Württemberg. Freiburg achieved the top value with 19 volunteers per 1,000 inhabitants. “We would like to thank all volunteers for their tireless efforts. In doing so, you prove that Freiburg is a very lively municipality in which working for others is part of it, ”said Rolland.
