Due to the increasing number of refugees from Ukraine and the lack of capacity for accommodation in the existing buildings of the state initial reception center (LEA), two newly built accommodation containers in modular design had to be activated ad hoc this morning from shortly after 9 a.m. on behalf of the Freiburg regional council.
The professional fire brigade, the Freiburg volunteer fire brigade with departments 17 (management support & logistics), Opfingen and Haslach and the THW local association Freiburg were alerted to this.
A total of 25 volunteers from the Freiburg fire brigade and 14 volunteers from THW were deployed.
The order for the THW and the fire brigade was the transport and the assembly of furniture with sleeping possibilities for 40 accommodation rooms. A total of 160 beds, 160 mattresses, 80 lockers and 160 chairs had to be transported and set up.
The material had to be brought from a warehouse in the Mooswald district to Müllheimer Strasse/Lörracher Strasse (LEA) with a total of 5 transport vehicles.
The sports hall at the state reception center was then equipped with 125 camp beds. For these measures, the Opfingen and Hochdorf volunteer fire brigade was alerted with 20 emergency services. In addition, the THW supported these measures with
a total of 24 emergency services.
The operation ended around 8:45 p.m.
