Freiburg (dpa / lrs) – 1. FC Saarbrücken gave up a possible victory in the top game of the 3rd football league at SC Freiburg II, second in the table, late in the game. At 1-1 (1-0), the Saarlanders conceded the equalizer from Vincent Vermeij (90+1) on Monday at the end of the 29th matchday in injury time. Marvin Cuni put coach Rüdiger Ziehl’s team ahead in the 14th minute. Saarbrücken now occupies sixth place with 49 points. The gap to the direct promotion place is four points.
The Saarlanders, who have now been unbeaten in four league games, got off to a good start. Cuni deflected a shot from Calogero Rizzuto decisively to take the lead. After the change, Freiburg pushed for an equaliser, which came just before the end. Vermeij poked the ball over the line from close range. The protests of the guests, who previously claimed to have seen a foul on goalkeeper Daniel Batz, were unsuccessful.
