Freiburg: September 15: Eleven excellent construction projects in the region – Association of German Architects awards Hugo Häring Awards 2021 – Award ceremony from the Meckelhalle in the Sparkassen-FinanzZentrum Freiburg can be streamed live

Every three years, the Freiburg – Breisgau – Hochschwarzwald district group of the Association of German Architects (BDA) awards the Hugo Häring award to buildings that are convincing in terms of planning and design. In 2021, 58 high-quality projects were submitted, among which an independent jury chaired by Stefanie Eberding selected eleven buildings in May.

The Hugo Häring Award explicitly recognizes the joint work of the builder and the architect. “Good and award-worthy architecture can only be created with a lot of mutual understanding and consistent, joint decisions,” says Detlef Sacker, chairman of the district group.

The Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau is once again the venue for the award ceremony this year, but still without guests on site. The program will be streamed live via #inFreiburgzuhause (www.infreiburgzuhause.de) on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 at 7:00 p.m. from the Meckelhalle in the Sparkassen-FinanzZentrum.

The panels of all the structures submitted can be seen from September 16 to October 15, 2021 in the Meckelhalle. The exhibition is accessible free of charge during the opening hours of the Sparkasse Freiburg – Nördlicher Breisgau.

The Hugo Häring Award is the first stage of the nationwide process that has been carried out since 1969. The Hugo Häring Prize for Baden-Württemberg is awarded among the winners of the 15 district groups. It is considered the most important award for architecture in the country.

Hugo Häring was one of the most important initiators of the ‘New Building’. With its name, the BDA is committed to the tradition of ‘modern architecture’ and honors the architect, who was born in Biberach in 1882 and who opposed both abstract laws of form and a subjective conception of architecture.
