Freiburg region is resisting the sealing of the Stocamine landfill in Alsace – Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald district

The city of Freiburg and the districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald support a resolution that advocates the recovery of toxic waste from the mine in Alsace.

The French state wants to finally seal the Stocamine toxic waste dump in Alsace with concrete. The French neighbors in the Upper Rhine Graben are protesting against this decision, which is now also supported by the Freiburg region. The city of Freiburg and the neighboring districts of Emmendingen and Breisgau-Hochschwarzwald support a resolution from Alsace that speaks out against sealing the underground landfill and in favor of salvage – also out of concern for the groundwater in the Upper Rhine Rift.
