The police (FLZ) reported to the integrated control center on Wednesday at 5.46 p.m. that a swimmer was missing in Opfinger See. The dispatcher immediately alerted the fire brigade to the fire brigade and volunteer departments
Fire brigade as well as the water rescue units from DLRG, penguins and the THW Emmendingen. The rescue service was also alerted with an ambulance and the rescue helicopter.
The rescue helicopter flew over the lake for an initial search, but could not make a determination due to the limited visibility into the water. The search was started from the water with the rescue boat of the fire brigade, which was later replaced by boats from the DLRG. The bottom of the lake was searched with a sonar, and three rescue divers were also on duty underwater.
After a search lasting almost three hours, the person was found by a rescue diver at a depth of ten meters. The transport to the transfer point to the rescue service took place under resuscitation measures, which were continued by the rescue service. More rescue divers were on standby on land.
