Freiburg: July 22: Prize for fine arts in Freiburg – two art students receive prizes from the city of Freiburg and the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau

Rewarding the commitment of young art students and strengthening their artistic development: That is the goal of the sponsors of the “Prize for Fine Arts”. In this way, two art students can receive financial support. Your works will then be exhibited for three weeks in Kunsthaus L6.

At the vernissage on Friday, July 22, at 7 p.m., Mayor Ulrich von Kirchbach and Beate Schwarz, deputy board member of Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, will present the prize in Kunsthaus L6. The lecturers then introduce the award winners. The exhibition shows works by all proposed students. This year’s jury included: Julia Galandi-Pascual (PEAC), Heinrich Dietz (Art Association) and Ann-Kathrin Harr (Cultural Office).

After the Freiburg Academy of Fine Arts moved away, there were initially no further awards for young graduates in the fine arts department. In order to change that, the city of Freiburg and the Sparkasse Freiburger-Nördlicher Breisgau founded the “Debutant Award” in 2020. While this prize has been awarded to students at Macromedia University for the last two years, there is now an expansion of the training institutions involved. Students at the University of Education and the Edith Maryon School of Art in Freiburg can now also receive the award under the new designation “Fördererpreis für Bildende Kunst Freiburg”.

The exhibition at Kunsthaus L6, Lameystraße 6, is open from Saturday, July 23 to Sunday, August 14, from Thursday to Saturday (2 p.m. to 6 p.m.). Admission is free.
