The donation check was received on Thursday (October 13) by the evangelical leader of the Bahnhofsmission, Natalie Brenner, together with the diaconal theological adviser of the city evangelical mission in Freiburg, Norbert Aufrecht, by Marc Winsheimer, managing director of the savings banking foundations.
The Jessen Foundation was established in 2016 as an endowment fund under the auspices of the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau Citizenship Foundation. Financial support from the station mission is intended for emergency assistance to guests.
An important part of the station’s mission operation is under the title “Emergency Refueling”.
More than 70,000 people travel to Freiburg’s main railway station every day.
In the midst of the hustle and bustle of everyday life at the train station, the Freiburg Train Station Mission offers a point of contact for help in problem situations or simply for human attention and an open ear. The supply takes place with simple means: fresh drinks, tea, coffee and spreadable bread.
During the cold season, the station’s mission has repeatedly been able to offer hot meals in recent years.
