Tram recovered after the accident: probably no traffic chaos

After the accident between a truck and a tram, Freiburg police are not expecting chaos in traffic on Friday, despite ongoing relief efforts and unlit traffic lights. On Thursday evening a 56-year-old truck driver drove parallel to the tram and then wanted to turn right, it was said. The truck collided with the train and then crashed into a concrete pillar to which power lines were attached. Part of the traffic light system was also damaged. The tram derailed in the accident. The 56-year-old was taken to hospital with minor injuries; Initially, the police had assumed serious injuries.
The shaft needs to be replaced. Therefore, tram line 1 will soon stop at another stop until Saturday, as announced by Freiburger Verkehrs AG. A rail replacement service has been established. In addition, the city of Freiburg took care of traffic management on Friday, according to the police spokesman.
