EHC Freiburg has extended the contract with Robert Hoffmann by another year. In the 2022/23 season, too, the head coach will direct the fortunes of the wolves behind the gang. Before the season, the 44-year-old returned from Dresden to Breisgau, where he had already been on the ice for two and a half years as a professional.
Together with Peter Salmik, the sporting director of the Wolves, the head coach has made the promotion and further development of young players a priority. With an average age of almost 24 years, the wolves not only have the youngest team since the 2011/12 season, but also one of the youngest teams in the entire DEL2 2021/22. By making the playoff and reaching the DEL2 quarter-finals, Robert Hoffmann and the team were able to seamlessly continue the successes of previous seasons in a more than difficult Corona season. It is now clear that Robert Hoffmann will remain the head coach of EHC Freiburg in the 2022/23 season.
Peter Salmik, Sports Director of EHC Freiburg: “It was Robert’s first full year as head coach in the DEL2. We experienced ups and downs and in the end we were able to present a more than good result in a really difficult season. Last season he was practically faced with a fait accompli in terms of the squad. In the following season we would like to give him the opportunity to put together the team more according to his wishes. As an association, we are more than satisfied with the work he has done and look forward to further cooperation”.
Robert Hoffmann adds: “I am very happy to continue working on our common path as head coach of the Wolves in the coming season. I really feel at home in Freiburg and the whole team has shown what they’re made of. Despite everything, we have a lot planned and want to develop further in many areas. We have a clear vision together and we want to push it further in the coming season.”
