Freiburg: Ice hockey, November 6th: EHC Freiburg starts the 2020/21 DEL2 season – “Wolves” fans can follow their favorites in the live stream

The long wait among fans, players and those responsible for all aspects of Freiburg professional sports is finally over. Against all odds, the DEL2 and thus also the EHC Freiburg will start the new season tomorrow. Due to the current Corona measures, no spectators are admitted to the games in the entire league for the entire November.

The preparation:
A short, unusual and intensive preparation phase lies behind the wolves. The team of head coach Peter Russell and his new assistant coach Jack Hartigan were only able to make five of the seven originally planned test games due to corona-related cancellations in one of the opposing teams. However, the results are impressive. Against the league competitor from Ravensburg could be won clearly and dominantly. Bad Nauheim was defeated both on home and on foreign ice and it even reached double digits against the regional league team from Hügelsheim (the new home of long-time Wolf captain Philip Rießle). Only against top favorite Frankfurt was a narrow defeat in the end.

The team:
The team is closed and hungry. The core of the team from the successful previous season could be held together and was further strengthened selectively. Luke Pither did not return to the Breisgau on the contingent positions that were so important in the DEL2. For him, the DEL-experienced Swedish export Andreé Hult came into the squad and fitted in seamlessly. The two injured Nick Pageau and Cam Spiro have to be done without at the beginning of the season. With Skyler McKenzie, the Sturm und Drang department will have another contingent position ready for the start of the season in the North American professional league AHL.

Season start on November 6th in Freiburg:
Tomorrow at 7:30 p.m. the time has come. In the local Echte Helden Arena, the wolves await the Heilbronn falcons to kick off. For their part, the hawks have had mixed preparations and are also plagued by a few failures. The most prominent newcomers to coach Michel Zeiter’s team are certainly the Canadians Matthew Neal (previously Klagenfurt) and Justin Kirsch (previously Kassel). Also this season, ex-Freiburg resident Matthias Nemec is among the Falken between the posts.

First away game on Sunday:
After the start at home tomorrow, the Wolves will play their first away game against the Kassel Huskies on Sunday at 6:30 p.m. The team of head coach Tim Kehler is also one of the title contenders in the DEL2 this season and thus as a potential climber to the German upper house – the DEL. In spite of the strong preseason, the Hessians have completely renewed themselves in the contingent positions and can announce a proud total of 12 new entries.

The wolves’ home game tomorrow (7:30 p.m.) and the away game in Kassel on Sunday (6:30 p.m.) can be followed for € 9.90 each in the HD live stream on SpradeTV.
