Freiburg: Ice hockey: Leitwolf Shawn O’Donnell (34) stays with EHC Freiburg until 2025 – import player extends his contract early

With the contract extension of Shawn O’Donnell (34), EHC Freiburg can present the first long-term course for the next two seasons.

The Canadian native came to Breisgau with a lot of experience from North America before the season from the Dornbirner EC from the international ICHL and was able to convince quickly here. In 23 games so far, the right-handed shooter has 26 goalscorer points and thus more than 1.1 points per game on his account. In addition to his goalscoring qualities, O’Donnell is most notably characterized by his tireless commitment, hard-working attitude and absolute will to win.

Sporting director Peter Salmik: “Shawn is a very valuable player for us and we know what we have in him. He fights for our club until he falls in every single match and, in addition to his professionalism, he also brings a good atmosphere to the dressing room, with whom he travels with his teammates and helps them in. We are very pleased to be able to keep such a leader in our team at an early stage and in the long term and already have planning security in this important position.

Shawn O’Donnell on his early contract extension: “I feel very comfortable here in Freiburg and I’m really enjoying it. The team, the fans and the whole club have made it easy for me to extend my contract with Wolves early But now it’s about doing everything to be successful as a team and to develop myself personally as a player.”

It is now clear that the imported player, currently in second place in the Freiburg scorers chart, will wear the Wolves shirt for the next two seasons.
