Callers reported to the integrated control center at 3:22 a.m. on Friday via the pan-European emergency number 112 that a fire had broken out in the roof structure of a single-family house on Richard Strauss Strasse in Freiburg-Herdern. Renovation work is currently being carried out on the building. The dispatcher immediately alerted
the fire brigade of the professional fire brigade, as well as three departments of the volunteer fire brigade.
When the first emergency services arrived, flames could be seen in the roof of the building. The residents reported that there were no more people in the building. The fire fighting was immediately started with two (extinguishing pipes) C-pipes in the external attack, as well as a C-pipe and a troop under respiratory protection via a turntable ladder.
After extensive extinguishing work, the fire was brought under control. The building was ventilated by the fire brigade and then handed over to the police.
As a result of the event, the single-family house is temporarily no longer habitable.
The Freiburg fire brigade was in action with 9 vehicles and around 33 fire brigade members.

According to the first investigations, the fire broke out because a screw became wedged and became very hot when it was screwed into the thread. When it came into contact with the insulation, a smoldering fire developed, which was then more severe over the course of the night and then finally discovered.
According to the current assessment, there is no criminal act. The property damage amounts to approx. 150,000 EUR
