Freiburg: From October 18: The retaining wall at Kartäusersteg / Augustinerweg in Freiburg will be renovated – the bike path and sidewalk between Schwabentor and Kartäuserstraße will be completely closed until the end of the year

The retaining wall at Kartäusersteg / Augustinerweg needs to be renovated. The work is necessary due to the poor building fabric.

The renovation work will begin on Monday, October 18, and will probably take until the end of the year, depending on the weather conditions.

The heritage-protected retaining wall will be gradually demolished, the slope secured with a shotcrete wall and then the natural stone wall in front of the shotcrete wall will be rebuilt.

To do this, the cycle path and sidewalk between Schwabentor and Kartäuserstraße must be completely closed. Cycle traffic out of town is diverted via Greiffeneggring / Wallstraße to Kartäuserstraße and inwards via Kartäuserstraße / Schwabentorring.

In addition to the diversion signs, two signs with the outline of the diversion route are set up for cyclists coming from the city center and from the Schlossbergring. Pedestrian traffic will be diverted via Schwabentorring and Kartäuserstraße.

The gardening and civil engineering office asks for understanding for the traffic restrictions and for considerate cooperation.
