The Freiburg Greens invite all members and interested parties to the general meeting on Thursday, June 17th from 8:00 p.m. (online).
After the introduction of our new Education Mayor Christine Buchheit, the topic of education policy will be fundamental. We will hear contributions from our new member of the state parliament, Nadyne Saint-Cast MdL, and our working group on education. We are very pleased that with Elisabeth Schilli from the regional student council, the students’ point of view will also be represented.

Education is the key to a good life. Too often today the origin of a child still determines chances and later success in life. Business and society need the ideas and strength of all young people. That is why our daycare centers, schools, vocational schools and universities must improve in order to guarantee real educational equity. They should give everyone equal opportunities for a good life. We focus on the individual child: all children and young people, regardless of their origin, should be able to optimally develop their talents and gifts. We Greens are committed to schools that realize equal opportunities, promote creativity and personal responsibility and guarantee the best education. The pandemic has made it clear: The German education system is lagging far behind its standards. Especially in the field of digital education, despite the billions from the digital pact, tablets, notebooks and good concepts and advisory services for digital teaching are in short supply even in the second year of the pandemic. That needs to change. We need pragmatic solutions so that Germany can finally catch up with the top group of digitized school systems and offer real educational equality for everyone.
