From June 3rd to July 1st, 2022, the Meckelhalle in the Sparkassen-FinanzZentrum will appear in complete contrast to modern street and pop art. Artists Marc Hartmann and Jeremy Palluce from the large network of the Grow.Together e. Because football and art are languages that are spoken and understood all over the world. On the occasion of the exhibition, a street art live performing by the artists will take place on June 24 at 5:30 p.m. in Gauchstrasse.
Students met each other in 2013 and have known ever since what football is capable of: regardless of origin, nationality or skin color – the potential for creating connections is unique! Because they were convinced that football can also have a positive impact on society, they founded the association “Grow.Together eV” in 2018. They want to bring people together and promote peaceful coexistence – with multicultural football tournaments for young people, enriched with music and street art.
In the last few weeks, people in Freiburg have also been able to grow together through football – and that shortly after the long contact restrictions imposed by Corona. The most successful year of the flagship SC Freiburg drove tens of thousands of Freiburgers to the cup final in Berlin and on the squares and streets in the region, made people grow together – grow together. That’s not the only thing that unites the people of Freiburg. The basketball women of the Eisvogel USC Freiburg were extremely successful and even became German champions. For the women’s Bundesliga team and the U23s in the third division, the new season will continue at a high level.
The club members keep close friendships and acquaintances with the latter. As for the artists in the exhibition: “I like to see myself as part of the Grow.Together philosophy…sport and multicultural influences have been with me since I was a child and mean for me limitless thinking in relation to origin and cultures. Sport is an extremely large community that would not even exist without these topics and shows very well how simply ‘growing together’ can sometimes work. My origins in the graffiti corner are of course just such a community and a very large multicultural movement with the same values.” says Marc Hartmann alias Coek197, who has been practicing street art for over 25 years and is working for Grow.Together eV for the second time.
Together with Jeremy Palluce alias SKOPE, who is exhibiting digital art, Hartmann will show his pictures in the spirit of the Grow.Together association. And because, from a sporting point of view, it was a very successful and eventful year for you as a Freiburg resident, you say thank you to SC Freiburg… for this great year. Let’s grow together!
The realization of the street art exhibition goes back to the city’s anniversary year in 2020. On the initiative of the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau, the artists and Grow.Together eV wanted to devote themselves to the topic “900 years young” and thus make a contribution to the city’s celebrations. But like many other events, the exhibition fell victim to the pandemic. The Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau now keeps its word, supported the creation of the exhibits with workshops and material – and now invites them to the presentation in their Meckelhalle. The exhibition also received great support from the ASF – Abfallwirtschaft und Stadtreinigung Freiburg GmbH, which made workshops and material available in 2020.
On June 24th at 5.30 p.m., the Sparkasse Freiburg-Nördlicher Breisgau invites you to the Meet & Greet Day, a street art performing with the association Grow.Together eV and the artists in Gauchstrasse. There, passers-by and interested parties can follow live how the construction fence is being designed by the artists under the currently standing construction crane – and visit the exhibition in the Meckelhalle for a few hours into the evening.
