“After 32 years an era is coming to an end!” Says Auxiliary Bishop Christian Würtz, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Caritas Association Freiburg-Stadt e. V. on the departure of CEO Egon Engler from the association. Egon Engler has had a major impact on the association since 1989, initially as managing director, and then, after changing the statutes, as chairman of the board. At the end of August he will take his well-deserved retirement. Auxiliary Bishop Würtz: “Egon Engler did an excellent job for the people entrusted to our association. He is valued far beyond the borders of Freiburg for his competence, but also for his hands-on, people-loving and engaging manner. “
Engler’s successor as chairman of the board will be Rainer Gantert, who has already been a member of the two-person board of the association. “We are happy to be able to maintain continuity in the management of our association with Rainer Gantert,” emphasizes Auxiliary Bishop Würtz. “We really appreciate working with him because of his proven expertise, his experience, his commitment and his authenticity.” The 53-year-old Gantert from Elztal studied business administration and political science. He has been working in a leading position for the Caritas Association Freiburg-Stadt since 2006.

Frank Barrois is a new member of the board. The 44-year-old joined the association in 2010. He took over the management of the senior living and care facility St. Anna-Stift and finally the entire specialist department for old age and social services. In addition, the theologian was also given general association tasks, such as coordinating the corona defense measures.
Auxiliary Bishop Würtz: “On behalf of the entire Supervisory Board, I congratulate Rainer Gantert and Frank Barrois and wish them luck, success and God’s blessings for their new tasks.” “The great gratitude and all blessings from the supervisory board have been with him during the last months of his work for our Caritas Association!”
