Freezing Halloween and even the possibility of the first snowflakes of the season – Telemundo New York (47)

New Jersey and New York will see heavy rain and gusty winds Friday as remnants of Tropical Storm Zeta will merge with another storm system on Thursday, the Weather Authority forecasts. And some parts of both northern states could even see some snow Friday morning.

The precipitation of remnants of Zeta could contribute to the formation of some snow mixed with the rain in some regions of upstate New York and New Jersey. However, snow accumulation is not expected.

For now, the biggest impact of the remnants of Zeta could be heavy rains in most of both states. Some rains could come as early as Wednesday night, but most of the heaviest rain will fall during the day and night on Thursday.

If current forecast trends continue, rain could subside by noon on Friday. Overall, many areas in both states are likely to end up with a total of 1 to 3 inches of rain.

Meteorologists from The Weather Authority forecast that temperatures could be cold enough for some snow to mix with rain in high-altitude areas Friday morning.

Residents of the metropolitan region will also need to prepare for a big drop in temperature on Friday and Saturday. The region could see lows of 40 degrees during the day and lows of 30 or mid-20s during the afternoon and evening hours in some regions.

The coldest temperature should be felt on Saturday morning and Sunday morning. Halloween is shaping up to be quite frigid in the morning, with highs hovering between 48 and 50 degrees, and temperatures in the 30s to 40s before midnight.

Zeta is the 27th named storm in this hyperactive Atlantic hurricane season.
