Freeing the hostages of the Bank of Lebanon in exchange for 30 thousand dollars out of the deposit of their kidnapper

Negotiations with the armed hostage-taker in one of Lebanon’s banks resulted in an agreement to give him $30,000 out of his $209,000 deposit, and in return he released all the detainees and the hostages.

The security forces removed the armed depositor from Federal Bank in the Hamra area of the Lebanese capital, Beirut, after agreeing to give him an amount of 30,000 dollars, despite the banks’ abstention from disbursing any amounts of deposits in foreign currencies since late 2019 and with the exception of those who meet certain conditions under which they receive 200 A dollar a month at the most.

Initial information indicated that the perpetrator of the kidnapping and hostage-taking incident is a 42-year-old person, as it emerged during the negotiations with him that his behavior and his entry into the bank in this way aimed to demand his money, which amounted to 209 thousand dollars, and to his brother the amount of 500 thousand dollars, to pay the costs of conducting an operation for their father in the hospital.

The head of the Lebanese Depositors Association, Hassan Mughniyeh, attended with members of the association, to the bank, in an attempt to persuade the armed depositor and discourage him from doing any harmful act. Put pressure to carry out his demand.
