Nearly a hundred police and gendarmes were injured Saturday during demonstrations against the law “Global security” and police violence, according to a final report given on Sunday by Gérald Darmanin.
In a tweet, the Minister of the Interior argued that according to a final assessment, there had been “98 wounded among the police and gendarmes”. “I give them my full support. The perpetrators of this violence must be prosecuted ”, he added.

A little earlier in the afternoon, also in a tweet, Mr. Darmanin had assured to have had “Long conversations with most of the injured police officers”. “I wanted to inquire about their health and assure them of my support”, he added.
A previous report from the Ministry of the Interior reported 62 wounded among the police (39 in the provinces and 23 in Paris).
Several videos posted on social media showed police beaten by protesters.
Two demonstrators, who made a report to the General Inspectorate of Police (IGPN), were injured in the provinces, according to the police.
In Paris, an assessment of the injured on the side of the demonstrators was not yet carried out.
A freelance Syrian photographer, Ameer al-Halbi, 24, who was covering the protest was injured in the face in Paris. RSF Secretary General Christophe Deloire denounced police violence on Twitter on Saturday evening “Unacceptable” against this collaborator of Polka Magazine and AFP.

On Sunday, the two media also denounced the violence, AFP calling for a police investigation.
Investigation “Internal administrative” was opened on Sunday, according to a police source, to determine the circumstances in which the photographer was injured.
According to the Interior Ministry, 81 people were arrested during these demonstrations.
