Freedom Internet will charge ‘from’ 50 euros per month for 1Gbit / s fiber optic – IT Pro – News

Freedom Internet will offer 1Gbit / s fiber optic connections for a minimum amount of fifty euros per month. The new Dutch provider will start offering its DSL and fiber optic plans on 30 March.

Freedom has Internet on Twitter placed a teaser about its upcoming 1Gbit / s offering via fiber optic. The company does not want to give any further details about its upcoming packages, which it will offer from 30 March. Freedom Internet promises to publish more details in a newsletter later this week.

It is a starting price and it is not known in which regions the young company will offer services and what prices it will charge for which offer. Freedom Internet has always argued not to become a price fighter, but to focus on ‘qualitative and reliable,’ view-free ‘internet’. “That doesn’t work if we ask low prices,” says Freedom Internet.

It was already clear earlier that Freedom Internet will deliver fixed internet, fixed telephony and television via dsl and fiber optic. For its offer, Freedom Internet cooperates with a partner company that already has a wba agreement with KPN, but the company did not want to say what that provider was last year. Customers receive a Fritz! Box router / modem or can use their own hardware. The provider will offer its services in phases. The provider uses the KPN network, but in the long term also wants to offer services via the Ziggo cable network.

KPN itself makes its 1Gbit / s offer for fiber optics widely available from March, but it is not known what the telecom company charges for this subscription. For 500Mbit / s symmetrically, KPN is currently asking 55 euros per month. Competitor Ziggo now also offers 1GBit / s via cable, but with an upload of 50 Mbit / s. Ziggo announced last year that this will cost 99.50 euros per month, but now the provider is quoting a price of 76.50 euros on its site.
