In Mexico there will be no privileges for players, because no vaccine will be purchased given the restrictions of the Law
Liga MX will allow clubs to go to the United States to get vaccinated if it suits them, as happened in the case of Monterrey that was inoculated in Dallas.
The issue arises because so far the organization does not have by law the possibility of having vaccines for First Division teams, since everything is managed through the government, which at this time works with groups that need treatment against covid 19, such as those over 60, teachers and soon the circle of 50 to 59 years of age.
It was explained to this site that at this time the vaccine is approved on an emergent basis in all countries, which makes it impossible for individuals to buy the vaccines privately. That is why the Liga Mx and the players’ squads must wait until the government program meets their needs or, as indicated at the beginning, they go to the United States on their own and can be vaccinated without any problem.
The only ones who will receive the doses are the players who will take part in the Tokyo Olympics.
In an interview for this site, Carlos Padilla, president of the Mexican Olympic Committee, announced that it is estimated to vaccinate the 50 soccer players who will be included in the pre-list that the Mexican National Team will send, for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games and not only the 18 who they would go to the championship, as mentioned before, due to logistics.
“On the last day of June, at the latest, a preselection of 50 footballers must be delivered, in order to get the team that will represent us from there. I believe that you should have the vaccination of 50, because we do not know who will make up the Olympic team in the end “, commented Carlos Padilla, president of COM, to ESPN Digital Omar Flores, a reporter for this portal.
In the list of 50 are players like Guillermo Ochoa, Alfredo Talavera, Héctor Herrera or Hirving el Chucky Lozano, so they would all be vaccinated just for the fact that they have the chance to compete. In the case of selected Mexicans who are active in clubs abroad, support will be requested from the Olympic Committees of each country to be vaccinated.
