Texas Child Immunization

The Texas Childhood Immunization Program, or Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC), offers vaccines for children and young people up to 18 years of age at a very low cost. Beneficiaries must meet one of the following requirements:

Be part of or eligible for the Medicaid program, or Be enrolled in the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), or Be a Native American or Alaska Native, or Have no health insurance, or Have private insurance that does not cover vaccines or does not include those required for the school year. This group of people will be cared for at a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) or a Rural Health Clinic (RHC).

TVFC offers immunizations against diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis or whooping cough (Tdap, Td, or DTaP); polio; measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR); hepatitis A and B; chickenpox; meningococcus; human papilloma virus (HPV); influenza; rotavirus; pneumococcus; and hemophilia influenza type B (Hib).

Texas is one of the states with the highest number of uninsured and underinsured children, according to the Texas DSHS. Many of these children fail to complete the immunization series needed to protect them from preventable diseases.

You can use the digital map tool Texas DSHS to locate providers near you. There are 22 providers near Tarrant County, 21 near Dallas County, nine in Denton, and three in Collin.
