Free transport and parking for the end-of-year celebrations in Grenoble, Chambéry and Annecy

Every year, during the Christmas period, the large cities of the Alps make public transport available to their inhabitants and, for some, parking. From Grenoble to Annecy via Chambéry, find the best offers for the end of 2022.

Move without paying. The large cities of the Alps allow it thanks to various operations “Increase Mobility”, “live peacefully in fairyland”during the end of year celebrations.

In Grenoble, the Syndicat mixte des mobilites de l’aire grenobloise (SMMAG) and the Métropole will once again launch a special feature in December, in view of Christmas and New Year. This operation makes access to public transport more attractive. It also facilitates parking in the prefecture of Isère. This deal aims to make holiday shopping more enjoyable “serene”but also access to the various activities in the city.

Regarding transport Grenoble:

  • The TAG and Tougo networks will be free all day Saturday 10 and 17 December, as well as Christmas Eve on 24 December.

Regarding parking in Grenoble:

  • The Stade des Alpes and Presqu’île car parks will be free every weekend in December, 24 hours a day;
  • The Notre Dame-Musée, Victor-Hugo and Préfecture-Les Halles car parks will be free for 1 hour on Saturdays and Sundays, every weekend in December.

In Savoy, in Chambery, transport and parking will also be targeted from a special operation during the holidays. “We’re not trying to bring thousands more cars into the city.” explains Isabelle Dunod, deputy mayor of Chambéry, responsible for sustainable mobility. “We seek the right balance to support the commercial attractiveness of our centre, the events in our centre, the Christmas market, knowing that there are events in all districts.

Regarding transport to Chambery:

  • Every weekend in December the Synchro Bus will cost 1 euro a day

Regarding parking in Chambery:

  • The La Falaise car park will be free on Sundays 4, 11 and 18 December 2022. Currently, the Château and La Falaise car parks are free from 2pm to 7pm on Saturday afternoons.

In Haute-Savoie, Grande Annecy allows its inhabitants to “serenely experience the magic of the illuminated city” in order to promote sustainable mobility, thanks to the Sibra network. The entire network is accessible free of charge every weekend, from the end of November until 24 and 25 December.
