Things aren’t going so well for the Spatzen in terms of sport at the moment. The narrow 1:2 defeat in the opening match against Kaiserslautern was followed at the weekend by an equally narrow 0:1 defeat at SSV Jahn Regensburg. After the second matchday, the promoted team still has zero points.
Good halftime in Regensburg
Ulm only started to attack after the break. They pushed for an equalizer, but did not have any big chances. Philipp Strompf headed the ball from a corner but missed the goal (61′). Jahn did not have much going forward. But coach Joe Enochs’ team defended well and deserved the home win.
The Spatzen are now hoping for their first home win against Düsseldorf. The match will take place in the Donaustadion, which had to be adapted in various areas to meet the requirements of the German Football League (DFL) after promotion. The installation of the irrigation systems on the pitch and the heating loops for the undersoil heating have already been completed.
Bright floodlight
Few things are as characteristic of the Donaustadion as the four floodlight masts, which can be seen from afar. Spotlights were installed on the sides to meet the DFL guidelines with a 1200 lux beam.
The parking space for transmission technology will be moved next to the HaLo fitness center. A cable bridge will therefore cross Stadionstrasse from there in the direction of the main or media stand in order to connect this 800m² area to the stadium. The new BITE Business Club is also currently being built on the former grass pitch, which will offer space for around 1,000 VIP guests next season. The comparatively small VIP area next to the Jahnhalle will make way for this.
The SSV is returning to the second division after more than 20 years and with it a modernized Donaustadion. We are giving away standing room tickets.
