Free tests also for those who are not insured – news.ORF.at

Uninsured people can do a rapid antigen test in all CoV test streets in Austria. Not only marginalized social groups can benefit from this, but also students or workers who do not have their main residence in Austria, as the office of Health Minister Rudolf Anschober (Greens) said.

Most of those affected are in Vienna. Here, too, uninsured people can take the test in all nine test streets, according to the office of City Councilor for Health Peter Hacker (SPÖ) to “Radio Wien”. The federal government bears the costs for this.

According to one estimate, “Radio Wien” states that around 30,000 people across Austria are without insurance. The pandemic could push that number up. Since those affected are not insured, they do not have an e-card and thus de facto no access to the health system.
