Free, in-person and virtual tax preparation services for New Yorkers, announced Sunday by Mayor Eric Adams, are part of the initiative’NYC Free Tax Prep‘ from the Department of Consumer and Worker Protection (DCWP) of the Big Apple.
With this initiative, New Yorkers who earn $85,000 or less annually and file as a family, or those who earn $59,000 or less annually and file as an individual or as a couple but without dependents, now have help preparing their taxes. free of charge in New York City hospitals.
“Every day we work to make this city more livable for working-class New Yorkers, and by offering free tax preparation at NYC Health + Hospitals sites, we are once again serving families across all five boroughs,” he said. For in-person services, applicants must schedule an appointment in advance and bring identification and proof of income. Free New York City tax preparation services are now available at more than 130 VITA and TCE locations throughout the city. The IRS will accept returns until April 15, 2024. New Yorkers can call 311 or visit the NYC Free Tax Prep website (https://www.nyc.gov/site/dca/consumers/file-your-taxes.page) and use the DCWP interactive map (http://tinyurl.com/vtmxw2zp) to find the most convenient free tax site near them.
