Free Spanish Storytelling Event at Whitney Museum of American Art: April 14th Schedule and Details

NEW YORK — This is good news for those looking for a fun, free plan in Spanish this weekend.

This is because the Whitney Museum of American Art will offer a free storytelling event in collaboration with the New York Public Library this Sunday, April 14, as part of the museum’s Second Sunday Free Sundays. This special day of free entry also provides the opportunity to explore the newly opened exhibition Whitney Biennial 2024: Better than the Reality.

Where will the free event take place and what is it about?

On Sunday, April 14, storytime, led by NYPL librarians, will be held in the Museum lobby at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m., in English and Spanish, for families and visitors of all ages.

This month, storytellers will present a reading of the beloved children’s story “Millions of Cats,” written and illustrated by artist Wanda Gág, whose work is currently featured in the exhibition “The World of Wanda Gág”, recently inaugurated in the 7th floor galleries. Museum visitors will also have the opportunity to sign up for NYPL library cards in the lobby.

Additionally, additional special programs will be offered throughout the day, including exhibition tours in English and Spanish, art-making activities, and gallery discussions, including a closer look at the 2024 Whitney Biennial: Better Than Real and by Harold Cohen: AARON.

Although admission is free for these programs, reservations are required and can be obtained at whitney.org/boletos.
