Free Services for Dogs and Cats Offered by Municipality in Guaymallén Department

The Municipality informs the free services for dogs and cats in different locations of the department.

The fixed operating room, intended to neuter dogs and cats, works in the Zoonosis Area (in the El Sauce district). Shifts can be requested by calling 4498287 or 4498288, on Thursdays, from 7:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. These shifts will be delivered until the established quota is covered.

The mobile operating room performs castrations without a prior shift and in order of arrival, until the stipulated quota for each day is completed. The owners must go to the published locations with the DNI or a tax that proves their residence in Guaymallén and their pet, fulfilling the established requirements*.

Both the anti-rabies vaccination and the internal and external deworming for dogs and cats will also take place without prior appointment and in order of arrival, according to the established schedule. It should be noted that this vaccine is mandatory from 3 months of age (as long as they are clinically healthy), it is placed annually and throughout the life of the animal. Canines must attend with a collar, chain and muzzle and cats must be transported in a cage, bag or similar element.

*Requirements for the veterinary mobile and the fixed operating room:

. Pets from 6 months to 6 years are cared for, with 12 hours of fasting prior to food and water.

. They should be at the optimal weight (not too skinny or overweight).

. Females must not be in heat or pregnant.

. Dogs and cats have to be clean and clinically healthy.

. Males must have both descended testicles.

. Dogs must attend with a collar, chain and muzzle.

. Cats must attend in closed carriers or backpacks, not in cardboard boxes.

. It is important to attend with a blanket, Elizabethan collar or post-surgical mesh.

. The owner(s) must have time to wait for the surgery.

. The veterinarian will determine whether or not the animal is fit to be operated according to his criteria.
