Qigong, also known as Chi Kung, is an ancient Chinese practice that combines gentle movement, deep breathing and mental concentration to promote health, vitality and general well-being. With a history dating back thousands of years, Qigong has been practiced and perfected for generations as a way to maintain balance between body, mind and spirit.
This practice, which provides numerous health benefits, will be carried out every Saturday within the framework of the Open Sport program, starting at 6 p.m., on the stage located on Las Tipas Avenue and the Rose Garden of General San Martín Park.
Qigong has its roots in traditional Chinese medicine and Taoist philosophy. It is based on the belief that the human body is crossed by channels of vital energy, called meridians, through which Qi, or vital energy, flows. According to Chinese medicine, when Qi flows freely, the body is in harmony and in good health, but when there are blockages or imbalances in the flow of Qi, illness and discomfort can arise.
The practice of Qigong seeks to cultivate and regulate Qi through gentle, fluid movements, breathing exercises and meditation. It focuses on the mind-body connection, encouraging relaxation, concentration and present moment awareness.
Health benefits
Qigong has been associated with a number of physical, mental and emotional health benefits. Among them are:
– Improvement of blood circulation and the cardiovascular system.
– Strengthening the immune system.
– Reduction of stress, anxiety and depression.
– Improved posture, balance and coordination.
– Increased flexibility and mobility.
– Promotion of mental calm and emotional clarity.
Scientific studies have supported some of these benefits by showing that regular Qigong practice can have a positive impact on health and well-being. It is a practice that can be adapted to individual needs and abilities. It can be practiced standing, sitting or lying down, and does not require specialized equipment. The key is regularity and mindfulness during practice.
