Free performances for teachers at the Latvian Puppet Theater in August

In August, at the Latvian Puppet Theater, teachers can get acquainted with several productions intended for children and young people free of charge, the representative of the theater Agnese Oliņa informed LETA agency.

The repertoire of the Latvian Puppet Theater currently includes about ten shows suitable for school-aged audiences. Continuing the tradition started in June, also in the month of August, the theater invites teachers to get acquainted with several productions intended for children and young people free of charge, to be included in the calendar of visits to cultural events during the semester.

The Latvian Puppet Theater plans to start the new school year with a new school program “T-hour”, which will combine the existing one and create a new content and educational offer for students. Its purpose is to let you get to know theater art not only from the position of the viewer, but also from the point of view of the many theater creators and producers.

It is expected that “T-stunda” will offer repertoire familiarization campaigns for teachers, daily performance class visits, creative meetings and workshops with actors and other theater professionals, the involvement of students themselves in theater research and other activities.

On August 18, at 6:30 p.m., teachers can attend the play “Katliņpauris”, staged by director Edgars Niklasons. The production received the “Play of the Year for children and/or young people” nomination of the Night of Gamblers in the 2021/2022 season.

It is planned that on August 26, at 11 am and 2 pm, the theater will show the production “Two little savages”, directed by Andris Zełonka. On the other hand, on August 29, at 7 p.m., teachers are invited to watch the production of “Whale Song” directed by Rudolph Apse. In the theater on August 30 at 7 p.m., you can visit Edgar Kaufeld’s production “Smalkās kaites”

Teachers can receive one free invitation to each performance at the box office of the Latvian Puppet Theater in the Riga Latvian Society building, by presenting an ISIC card or a certificate of employment from the school together with an identity document. The number of seats per show is limited.
