Free OnKit Distribution and Onam Fairs: Government’s Promise Kept

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister G. R. Anil informed that the free OnKit for AAY (Yellow) card was delivered to all the ration shops yesterday afternoon and so far 2,10,000 kits have been distributed. This is in addition to the kits provided in welfare institutions and tribal villages. The kit will be ensured for all AAY card holders who come to purchase. He also informed that the ration shops will work continuously from 8 am to 8 pm today.
The kits for welfare institutions were completed yesterday afternoon in Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Alappuzha, Ernakulam, Thrissur, Palakkad, Malappuram and Kozhikode districts. In other districts it will be completed by evening today. Kits were delivered to 136 tribal villages. Delivery will be completed today. Cardholders should get the kits.
The government’s promise to intervene in the market to control the price rise during Onam has been kept. Supplyco District Onam Fairs are witnessing unprecedented public participation. 2,50,65,985 rupees were sold through the 12-day Supplyco Onam district fairs in 2022. Of this, subsidized goods worth Rs.1,09,03,531 and non-subsidized goods worth Rs.1,41,62,454 were sold. This time there was a turnover of 5.17 crore rupees in 8 days. Of this, 1.67 crores of subsidized goods and 3.50 crores of non-subsidized goods were sold. The Minister said that this is a record for Supplyco Onam fairs.
