Free Now (Mytaxi) leaves Palma de Mallorca
Mytaxi, now Free Now, leaves Palma de Mallorca after a year of entering the island.
The German company owned by Daimler and BMW announced on Friday to the few taxi drivers it worked with that it was leaving Palma, the only city in the autonomous community where it was operating.
«After a year working together, our services in the city of Palma will be inactive as of February 10. We appreciate that you have trusted Free Now to work in the Balearic Islands because we have lived unforgettable moments with you. We will continue working to see each other again. Greetings, “was the message that the German company sent this Friday to the taxi professionals who collaborated with them.

In a statement not sent by the 47 taxi drivers who were working with the Free Now app, they detail their decision to stop providing service through the application.
“The sudden rise in prices for the payment of commissions to Free Now and without taking into account that the rates between Autonomous Communities are very relative and different, we believe that they are excessively high,” they comment in their statement.
They also denounce that Free Now does not speak and act without asking the sector for an opinion as a company for its own benefit.
The change of brand and merger of companies, when it was called Mytaxi to become Free Now, it seems that it also made the group feel bad.
“The latest statements made by some managers in the media did not sit well,” they continue in their note.
For these reasons, the taxi drivers decided to stop providing service and those who had planned to register, backed off seeing what happened.
“Thus, the determination that colleagues have made is to ‘JOIN’ the #Ntaxi app that is distributed nationwide and that will increase the fleet that already exists here on the island and the effort of their work will remain at home.”
