Ruud Vormer rendered an excellent service to Club Brugge on Friday evening. The Dutch midfielder gave his club the victory over Kortrijk with two goals.
Vormer has been one of the defining players at Club Brugge in recent years, but this season he mainly had to make do with substitutes. Against Kortrijk he was once again given a basic place by trainer Philippe Clement and he paid back that confidence.
After more than half an hour, Vormer opened the scoring. The midfielder curled a free kick behind goalkeeper Marko Ilic. For Vormer it was his ninth goal from a direct free kick in the Belgian league.
