NEW YORK — If you’re interested in job training focused on the food industry and you live in the Soundview neighborhood of the Bronx, you’re in luck as there is an organization that offers free training courses.

Allie’s Place Center for Culinary Education and Employment is an organization that focuses on job training and placement. The center prepares adult students for employment in a variety of jobs in the food industry, including commercial and institutional kitchens, restaurants, and cafeterias.

Training courses include cooking essentials, baking and poster making, barista basics, and other intensive sessions designed to give you the skills you need to land a job.

Classes are taught in state-of-the-art kitchens and classrooms by instructors who know first-hand the
skills that employers look for in their new hires.

In addition, the center offers job placement services and preparation assistance from resume writing to references.

The center is easily accessible in the heart of the Soundview Neighborhood at 1600 Randall Avenue.

You can take the Bx27 bus to Clason Point (Randall Ave./Rosedale Ave. stop) or the Bx5 bus to Pelham Bay (Story Ave./Metcalf Ave. stop).

Additionally, you can take the 6 line subway to the Morrison Avenue Soundview station and then take the Bx27 bus as mentioned above.

The Center is managed by HFH, a non-profit entity. All costs for training, course materials, job preparation and referrals, and maintaining an alumni network of graduates is provided at no cost. Allie’s Place Center for Culinary Education and Employment is intended to be a community resource.
