Free insertion of microchips in domestic cats: the sold-out initiative of Ats Brescia

by Pietro Gorlani

The event organized on Sunday 17 November at the kennel in via Orzinuovi in collaboration with Oipa and Enpa was aimed at felines born before 2020: eighty-two of those treated

The initiative «la giornate of the black cat”, with which Ats Brescia inserted 82 microchips free of charge into the same number of domestic felines born before 2020, was sold out. Hosting ChipDay, on the occasion of “Black Cat Day” on Sunday 17 November, is the Sanitary Kennel in via Orzinuovi in collaboration with the Enpa and Oipa associations.

Thanks to this initiative, some owners of cats born or acquired before 2020 have had the opportunity to have their pets microchipped for free. Mandatory practice for cats born from 1 January 2020 and strongly recommended for everyone, especially when the animal has the possibility of living outside the home. The application of the microchip is essential for the identification of the animal and its registration in the SINAC national registry and allows, following the recovery of a lost or injured cat, to trace the owner quickly and easily.
.
«We are satisfied with the outcome of this day» comments Dr. Roberta Vitali, head of the Urban Hygiene and Pet Protection Structure of Ats Brescia: «IdRegistering your animal is a simple and quick procedure that allows you to demonstrate ownership of the property and represents a responsible way of taking care of them, facilitating recognition operations and speeding up their return to owners in emergency situations.”
