Tlaxcala, Tlax., September 8, 2023 (Editorial).-Starting Monday, September 11 and until December 16, 2023, the Tlaxcala Health Sector will carry out the free campaign to apply 42,473 vaccines against the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) to girls aged 11, 12 and 13 years old. schooled and out-of-school age, also for cisgender and transgender women from 11 to 49 years old who live with Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) to prevent cases of cervical cancer in the female population.

The person in charge of the State Vaccination Program of the Health Sector, Lucero González Vivanco, reported that vaccines will be available in all Health Centers in the state for parents to bring their daughters who are in those age ranges.

The doses will also be taken to 1,167 primary and secondary schools in Tlaxcala by health personnel and the State Public Education Secretariat (SEPE) and the Tlaxcala Educational Services Unit (USET), to be applied to girls and adolescents with prior authorization. of the parents.

The health of the population is a priority of the state government, therefore through the Health Sector, together with the Government of Mexico, the campaign will be developed and parents are invited to take their daughters to the vaccination points to protect the health of Tlaxcalteca girls.

These are unique vaccines, with which it is expected to achieve a goal of 95 percent of intramuscular dose placement in the non-dominant arm of the beneficiary women.

González Vivanco pointed out that in the case of the HPV vaccine that is applied to cisgender and transgender women, the vaccination schedule is three doses in total, after the first vaccine, the second and third doses must be applied to both and six months, respectively.

HPV infection is a more common Sexually Transmitted Infection (STI), affecting more than half of sexually active women and men at some point in their lives, which can cause cervical cancer in women in adulthood and the application of the vaccine reduces the development to a greater extent.
