IJSSELLAND – Young adults aged 19 to 26 will be able to get a free HPV vaccination in more places in the IJsselland region in the near future. This was already possible in Zwolle, Deventer and Hardenberg. From May 1, they can also get the shot in Dalfsen, Hasselt, Kampen, Ommen, Olst, Staphorst and Steenwijk. They are welcome with or without an appointment. In this way, GGD IJsselland makes it even easier for this group to get an HPV vaccination. All locations and opening times are listed ggdijsselland.nl/hpv-vaccinatie-2023
Vaccination free only in 2023
HPV vaccinations for young adults will only be reimbursed in 2023. Two vaccinations are required for optimal protection. There must be at least 6 months between the 1st and 2nd vaccination. It is therefore advised to get the first shot no later than May or June. This way, the second injection can also be obtained free of charge this year. From 2024 you will pay about € 175 per vaccination.
HPV vaccination protects against 6 types of cancer
More than 1.3 million young adults born between January 1, 1996 and December 31, 2003 have received an invitation from the RIVM for vaccination against the human papillomavirus (HPV). HPV can cause cancer in the mouth and throat, penis, anus, vagina, labia, and cervix. Eight out of ten people come into contact with the contagious HPV. Fortunately, it doesn’t always make you sick. Usually your body clears the virus itself. But that doesn’t happen in 10 to 20% of people.
Welcome with or without an appointment
Anyone who has not yet had two HPV vaccinations can make an appointment via www.hpvafspraak.nl or by calling 0800 -1608. But you can also visit without an appointment. More information can be found at www.hpvkeuzehulp.nl.
