Medellín will also have a day for the vaccination of children and young people, between 9 and 17 years old. It will be this Saturday, in the middle of the national day that seeks to prevent the Human Papillomavirus (HPV). There will also be space for older adults.

This was announced by the Ministry of Health, which specified that 70 points will be enabled, with hours between 8:00 am and 4:00 pm, which will provide the vaccination service against this virus.
“The vaccine, both for boys from 9 years old and girls from 9 to 17 years old, is completely free, therefore, we invite each of the parents, family members, who can access the points in the different IPS, which is done in coordination with each of the EPS,” said Mayelis Madrid, secretary in charge of Health.

And he added: “It is important to keep in mind that timely application and at the appropriate ages will allow us to prevent cervical, penile, and anal cancer, which, without a doubt, is increasing more every day.”

But the campaign not only seeks to promote vaccination against HPV. The office also extended the invitation to those over 60 years of age, caregivers of children between six and 23 months, and pregnant women from week 14 onwards to access their vaccine against southern strain influenza.
