And boys will be able to be vaccinated from winter
The anti-HPV vaccination, doctors say, of both girls and boys, is considered the best method of protection against various types of cancer arising as a result of infection with the HPV virus. In Prahova, in the stock of the Directorate of Public Health, at the beginning of September, when the situation of vaccine stocks was reported, there were 1639 doses left in the territory (family doctors’ offices) and another 3 doses left unused at DSP.
From this winter, boys up to and including 18 years of age will be able to get vaccinated with the HPV vaccine for free, while women aged 19 to 45 will receive the 50% compensated vaccine. A single dose of vaccine, if purchased from a pharmacy, costs approximately 600 lei.

Currently, the HPV vaccine is free only for girls between the ages of 11 and 18, and doctors recommend all parents to vaccinate their children for prophylactic purposes, to prevent infection with the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which can leads to cervical cancer.
Family doctors play the most important role in the vaccination process. “They are able to explain to parents the medium and long-term advantages, but also the risks, as with any vaccine. Parents should get their information only from specialists, not from the Internet”, stated those from DSP Prahova.
The free anti-HPV vaccination is carried out on the basis of requests that parents send to family doctors.
