Authorities announced free counseling for residents who want to apply to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or SNAP for its acronym in English in Chelsea, Massachusetts.
The Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program is the largest at the federal level and millions of families throughout the country benefit from it.
The consultancies seek to help those who are experiencing nutritional difficulties due to the prices of the basic basket that are through the skies.
“In Chelsea there are several places where people can complete their SNAP application. And now there is one more place that is every Tuesday here at City Hall, from 4pm to 7pm,” says Lourdes Álvarez, spokesperson for the City of Chelsea .
The orientation in Spanish will be in charge of CONNECT, an entity that offers services aimed at low-income families.
“The city is super excited about this project because we know there are a lot of residents who may not think they qualify for Snap, but they do,” added Álvarez.
Among the requirements to apply for SNAP are:
- An identification
- proof of address
- proof of rent payment
- proof of payment of utilities, among others
It is not necessary to make an appointment to receive advice, you just have to go to the mayor’s office, every Tuesday from 4 pm to 7 pm, and a representative in Spanish will help you clarify your doubts.
