With game prices skyrocketing, and the standard of living deteriorating in many countries negatively affecting the spending rate, free games are a treasure for gamers who want to have fun without costing their wallet anything. Digital game stores such as Epic Games, Steam, Xbox, and PlayStation are constantly giving their players free games on a weekly basis to increase the popularity of these platforms and stores, which was the motivation behind the creation of the free games section dedicated to keeping up with all the free games that are announced on a weekly basis.
Here’s a list of all the video games available for the week of August 31st, and let’s start with the Epic Games Store games, which unfortunately is just one game!
Cave Story+
Cave Story+ is a legendary indie game that blends action, exploration and storytelling. The game features a captivating art style and players will follow the journey of an amnesiac young hero named Quote. Players navigate an underground world of puzzling labyrinths filled with unique characters, dangerous enemies, and complex platforming challenges.
The game has an original story full of mystery and fast-paced fun. Run, jump, shoot, fly and explore your way through a colossal adventure reminiscent of classic 8 and 16-bit games!
Operating requirements:
Operating System: Windows XP – Windows 7 Processor: Intel Core Solo or Intel Core Duo 2.0 Ghz and higher RAM: 128 – 512 MB Graphics Card: 256MB RAM – non-integrated Storage: 200MB
The game is currently available until August 24th and you can get it and keep it forever from here
This week’s free PlayStation Plus games:
Sony has revealed the PS Plus Essential and above games that subscribed service members can look forward to for September 2023. Saints Row had already leaked at the start of the week, but the full PS5 and PS4 lineup – which can be downloaded and kept for as long as you’re on the service – Effective Tuesday, September 5, 2023 – as follows:
Saints Row for PS4 – PS5 Black Desert: Traveler Edition for PS4 Generation Zero for PS4
Volition’s open-world title Saints Row is the PS Plus Essential title for September 2023, giving entry-level subscribers access to a fully updated reboot. Although Saints Row did not receive a positive critical reception upon launch, the game has been constantly updated and now has three expansions available.
Meanwhile, Generation Zero is a rather poor quality open world game released for PS4. The game’s main drawbacks are its somewhat dated and outdated co-op environment design, the game’s open world feeling sparse even at the best of times, and an inventory system that routinely works against you as well.
As for Black Desert, it’s a game that gives you the basic MMO experience in addition to the traveler item pack, and it’s a nice option but definitely not one that will impress subscribers.
This week’s free Xbox Game Pass games:
Gris – Gris is an optimistic young girl lost in her own world, dealing with a traumatic experience in her life. Her journey through grief is manifested in her dress, which grants her new abilities to better navigate her bleak reality. The game will be available for free starting September 5th for Xbox and PC subscribers.
This was the list of all games available for free across all platforms for this week, and in fact, it is a list that is not as impressive as required, especially for PlayStation Plus subscribers; While Xbox did not reveal any attractive games, the Epic Games Store continues to give players only one free game for the second week in a row.
