The first free game is the battle royale event Blazing Sails, which has been in early access since 2020. It is developed by Belgian game developers Get Up Games. In the game, you will play as pirates who fight against each other in fierce battles on a vast archipelago. The mainstay of the game is clashes with other players, and the battle is won by the last crew left alive. You will fight both on ships and on land. It is definitely worth exploring the vast archipelago, where you will find new types of weapons. During the game, you will also upgrade your ship and increase its firepower, speed and improve the maneuverability of the ship.
Other free games on Epic are the first-person puzzle games QUBE. British game developers from the studio Toxic Games are behind QUBE games. You can play the first part of QUBE in the Director’s Cut version from 2014 (but you can also choose the original version from 2011). This is a puzzle game that will be most appreciated by Portal players. You are a nameless character who is equipped with two gloves that allow him to manipulate colored cubes in the QUBE game world. The first glove activates the dice and the second glove deactivates. There are a total of eight levels (called sectors) that contain over 100 puzzles to complete. As you progress through the game, individual puzzles will become more and more complex.
QUBE 2 was released in 2018 and Epic offers it for free in the Deluxe Edition with both DLCs (Lost Orbit and Aftermath). This time you will play as an archaeologist who wakes up on a strange planet and will have to solve various puzzles using the gloves and colored cubes known from the first part. This time we will be getting advice from a fellow archaeologist, who will keep us company remotely via radio. The goal of the game is to survive and find your way back home. The individual levels of the game are larger this time and offer a more open world and more possibilities for solving individual puzzles.
On metacritic, the first part of the game QUBE received an aggregate rating of 69 from expert reviewers and 7.5 from players. The second part received an overall rating of 76 from expert reviewers and 7.1 from players.
