ORLANDO, Florida. – Thanksgiving Day is celebrated this November 28 and various local organizations and groups in Orlando distribute turkeys and complete meals for the holiday with the goal that no home is left without food.
Below is a list of places where you can go in search of your food and dinner:
- Heart of Florida United Way is preparing to give out 5,000 meal kits for the Thanksgiving meal. They will be distributed Saturday during the sixth annual event serving Orange, Seminole and Osceola counties.
The food will be given away on Wednesday, November 20 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm To obtain the food, pre-registration is required to receive a meal kit.
- El Cilantrillo Restaurante and New Vision Ministry host a Thanksgiving feast for 250 homeless people from Central Florida this Saturday in front of Orlando City Hall. The event will take place on Saturday, November 23 at 4:00 pm in front of Orlando City Hall.
Attendees can expect a hearty menu that includes turkey, Puerto Rican pernil, El Cilantrillo’s signature cilantro rice, Puerto Rican-style macaroni salad, potato salad, green salad, sweet potatoes, bread, desserts, water and soft drinks.
Additionally, donated items such as blankets, coats and heavy clothing will also be distributed to help sustain the homeless during the colder months ahead.
