The free fall that the corona infection figures in West Friesland seemed to have started came to an abrupt end on Wednesday. This is apparent from the figures presented by RIVM on Wednesday.

In almost all municipalities, the number of inhabitants who tested positive again increased. The only exception is Koggenland, where the number of infections remained exactly the same compared to Tuesday: 24.
The increase was largest in Medemblik and Stede Broec, both municipalities recorded a plus of 14 new cases. In Medemblik the number rose from 21 on Tuesday to 35 on Wednesday, in Stede Broec this went from 8 to 22.
Enkhuizen saw the number of positive tests increase from 9 to 16. The largest municipality of Hoorn remained the leader in absolute terms on Wednesday with 48 cases of infection, six more than the day before. The smallest municipality of Opmeer was also confronted with an increase of six corona infections, here the number of Covid-19 patients rose from 8 to 14.
Drechtland too cannot escape a new increase, although it was limited here. There were 13 corona cases here on Tuesday, on Wednesday this had increased to 15. It is positive, however, that no new deaths have been added. The number of hospital admissions also seems to have come to a halt in the past few days.
