Free electricity is extended until December, this is how PLN claims token

KONTAN.CO.ID – JAKARTA. The government has again extended the electricity bill incentives. Waiver of bills for 450 volt-ampere (VA) customers and a 50% discount for 900 VA subsidized customers is extended until December 2020.

The incentive was initially in effect from April to June, then the government extended it to September. Now, the government again extends the waiver and discounted electricity bills until the end of the year.

The exemption and discount on the electricity bill also applies to prepaid and postpaid customers. For 450 VA customers, the exemption will go directly to PT Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN) for their electricity bills.

Tariff discounts for 900 VA postpaid subsidies customers, also directly PLN 50% of the total bill. As for prepaid customers who use tokens, there are two methods they can use to claim discounts.

How to claim free electricity token for prepaid customers

Customers can claim electricity tokens in two ways: through the official PLN website at www.pln.co.id and the WhatsApp conversation application.

PLN website

1. Open PLN’s official website at www.pln.co.id.
2. Click Covid Stimulus-19 (free / discounted token).
3. Enter Customer ID / Meter Number in the search field.
4. Enter the Captcha code then click Search.
5. Free electricity tokens or 50% discount will appear in the description column.
6. Free electricity tokens or discounts of 50% have been obtained, customers can enter these figures into kWh meters.

WhatsApp

1. Open the WhatsApp application
2. Chat WhatsApp to 08122-123-123. It starts by sending a message in the form of a customer ID number.
3. After that, an automatic reply appears from PLN to follow the instructions by typing number 1. The message sounds: Hello Electrizen. Type 1 for Free Electric Info / Covid Stimulus Discount19. Type 2 to read the Mandiri Meter electricity usage (postpaid). PLN Hotline (area code) 123.
4. After answering number 1, PLN then replies to enter the customer’s ID number. The message reads: Hello Electrizen, the government provides free electricity for 450 VA household customers & 50% discount for 900 VA subsidized household customers (as per the Integrated Social Welfare Data) and 450 VA Business and Industry customers. Please enter your customer ID / meter number huh?
5. Did not take long, free tokens from PLN immediately appear 6. Now, free electricity tokens from PLN can already be used.

Expansion groups can be incentives

Not only for subsidized 450 VA and 900 VA customers, the government will also expand electricity bill incentives. This time, the incentives will target customers in the social, business and industrial segments.

However, the form and mechanism of incentives for the social, business and industrial segments are still under discussion at the Ministry of Finance (MoF).
