Free COVID-19 Testing – NBC Bay Area 48

Although these high temperatures make it hard to believe, it is the fall season and with it come the holidays, family gatherings, and a higher chance of another COVID-19 surge.

So the government is doing its part to prevent the spread.

The United States Department of Health is offering four COVID-19 tests for each household completely free of charge.

The only thing you have to do is request them online.

The easiest way to do this is by visiting the page www.covidtests.gov.

Already on that page, you will see an option that says “request free tests to do at home.” You will click on that link and will take you to another page of the USPS postal service.

Right there, they will ask you for the only information they need. Your first name, last name, and shipping address.

Once you complete that, you will click “Pay Now.”

It is important to note that even though it says “pay,” your total will be zero dollars.

Once you have sent your request, the proofs will arrive to the address you gave.

The postal service says they take at least a week to arrive, so be sure to order them in plenty of time.

There are only four tests per address, so once a shipping address is used, it cannot be used again. This way the government can ensure that they can offer testing to all families.

Your information will not be sent to any other federal office so there is no need to verify your legal status or marital status.

The health department also clarifies that you may receive tests that appear expired. But, the FDA has extended the expiration dates.

In this page You will be able to get more information about those dates depending on which test you receive.
