Free corona tests required for commuters in border regions | NDR.de – news

As of: 01/30/2021 7:26 am

Residents of the German-Polish border region are demanding free corona tests for commuters in the border area. They feel excluded and treated unequally.

The residents of the border region have turned to the state government in Schwerin with a manifesto. In addition, there was an initial conversation with West Pomerania State Secretary Patrick Dahlemann (SPD) on Friday. That said Katarzyna Werth, who organized the protest of the border area residents. She hopes for a quick solution. The problem is that commuters have to get tested every four days.

Those who work in Poland have to pay for the corona test themselves

For Poles who work in Germany, this is usually done by the employer. But those who live in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania and have their job in Poland have to do it at their own expense. That is not to be paid in the long run. Many Poles, trusting the Schengen Agreement and the freedom of movement to travel, decided to live on the German side, so Werth, now they should not be disadvantaged.
